Study On Significance And Expression Of P-gp, MRP3, GST-Ï€ And ABCG2 In Esophageal Squamous Cell Carcinoma

objective:To investigate clinical pathology significance and expression of P-gp,MRP3,GST-Ï€and ABCG2 in esophageal squamous cell carcinomant. Methods: Envision immunohistochemical method was used to detect the expressions of P-gp,MRP3. GST-Ï€and ABCG2 in 76 cases of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma and in 30 cases of normal tissues, and to analyse the relationship between them and different clinical pathological factors. Their relationships with prognosis of patients were evaluated by Kaplan-Meier survival curve and Cox regression model analysis. Results:(1) The positive frequency of P-gp,MRP3,GST-Ï€and ABCG2 in esophageal carcinoma tissues is separately 88.16%,80.26%,76.32% and 80.26%, the positive frequency of them in normal tissues is separately 60%,56.67%,56.67% and 50%. The differences have statistically significant (P<0.05).(2) In different clinical stages and different depth of invasion of esophageal carcinoma the positive frequency of P-gp protein have statistically significant (P<0.05).(3) In different clinical stages and with or without lymph node metastasis of esophageal carcinoma the positive frequency of MRP3 protein have statistically significant (P<0.05). (4) In different clinical stages and different depth of invasion of esophageal carcinoma the positive frequency of GST-Ï€protein have statistically significant (P<0.05). (5) In different clinical stages and with or without lymph node metastasis of esophageal carcinoma the positive frequency of ABCG2 protein have statistically significant (P<0.05). (6) The expression of P-gp is positively correlated with ABCG2 r=0.228 (P<0.05).(7) The Five-year overall survival rate of the patients is 34.21%. Univariate survival analysis suggestes that the five-year survival rates between the positive and negative frequency groups of P-gp have statistically significant (P<0.05).(8) Cox multivariate analysis indicated that the TNM staging of esophageal carcinoma are the independent prognostic factors affecting survival rate of patients(P<0.05).Conclusion:It is suggested that P-gp,MRP3,GST-Ï€and ABCG2 play an important role in multidrug resistance.It is possibly that P-gp in coordination with ABCG2 in the pathogenesis of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma. Examining P-gp expression in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma, plays an important role in orientating the cancer treatment and predicting prognosis.The TNM staging is the independent prognostic factors affecting survival rate of patients.
