Objective:To study the effect of potassium supplement and anti-fibrosis of foeniculum vulgare mill on liver cirrhosis ascites in SD rats. Method:100 female SD rats were separated at random into normal group (group A,8 rats) and a liver cirrhosis ascites model group. After being tested to prove the success of cirrhosis ascites model, besides the deathes,71 rats were survived. The rest rats were separated at random into 7 groups, from B to H. The group B is model one, the group C is a furosemide group, the group D is a furosemide and KCL group, the group E is a salvia miltiorrhiza and furosemide group, the group F is a low-dose foeniculum vulgare mill and furosemide group, the group G is a middle-dose foeniculum vulgare mill and furosemide group, the group H is a high-dose foeniculum vulgare mill and furosemide group. After 6 weeks, the rats were dissected to observe the amount of ascites, the changes of liver, blood serum ion and four detections of liver cirrhosis, also took the liver slice for H-E stain.RESULT:①light yellow fluid was observed in the abdominal cavity, the liver surface was not smoothy,with diffused tubercles. Historical biopsy tests showed the pseudlobes and infiltration of inflammation.②The group B has high amount of ascites in each rat,group C,D have little ascites, groupA,E,F,G,H didn't have ascites.③Serum ion tests showed the level of kalium in group D,F,G,H,is higher than group C,the difference is significant(P<0.05),the comparison between the group G,H and group D is significant(P<0.05).④Four detections of liver cirrhosis showed the Hyaluronidase in group D,F,G,H is higher than group B,the difference is significant(P<0.05),group E and group H didn't have any difference. (P> 0.05).⑤Histolical H-E stain biopsy test showed, the fibro-interval in group E,F,G,H is less than group B, also included the alleviation of inflammation. Conclusion:1,Foeniculum vulgare Mill has effect on potassium-supplementation to liver cirrhosis ascites rats; 2,Foeniculum vulgare Mill has effect on depleting ascites of liver cirrhosis ascites rats; 3,Foeniculum vulgare Mill and zsalvia miltiorrhia has the same effect on anti-fibrosis.
