Background:Mycoplasma pneumonia is a common cause of pneumonia in children. The incidence rate of MPP is increasing evidently and age of onset has the trend of becoming yonger in recent years pneumonia. Mycoplasma pneumoniae pneumonia is caused by mycoplasma pneumonia infection. Mycoplasma pneumoniae is the smallest pronucleus organism without cell wall between virus and bacterium which can survive independently. It could spread through spatter. Its clinical manifestation is generally characterized by irritable cough and it shows long-term fever at the same time. MP can also lead to pulmonary complications of multiple systems, and some patients with extrapulmonary manifestations directly onset. Nearly three decades, large amounts of data also showed that mycoplasma pneumoniae infection has close relationship with child recurrent respiratory tract infection, repeated wheezing and even asthma. Until now the mechanism of MPP has not been clarified, but studies at home and abroad confirms the common humoral and cellular immunity involved in the pathogenesis of MPP, and in this process, cytokines play an important role.A large number of cytokines are directly or indirectly involved in the pathogenesis of MPP through cytokines relationship between the intricate network. Main role of IL-5 is to activate a series of eosinophil response induced eosinophil progenitor cell growth and differentiation. When MP infected the body, IL-5 stimulated T cells as an antigen so that a large number of IL-5 were released, which played the immune activity, causing a series of immune and inflammatory responses. VEGF is widely distributed in human lung tissue, which can stimulate the endothelial cell proliferation, migration, angiogenesis in vivo, increasing vascular permeability, and played an important role in the airway inflammation and airway remodeling. In the normal organism, VEGF can maintain the normal function of tissues and organs, but when MP infected the body, VEGF become abnormally high, can mediate a range of immune responses and immune injury. The present study shows only cytokine involved in the pathogenesis of MPP, but research about the role of the cytokine in the MPP and the role of the wheezing after MP infection is rare. So we carry out the detection of the cytokines IL-5, VEGF with wheezing and not wheezing of MPP children in acute and convalescent. Objectives:To explain the effect of IL-5, VEGF in the pathogenesis of MPP and relation of breathing disease with MPP through the study of pathogenesis of Mycoplasma pneumoniae pneumonia. Methods:The object of this study is enrolled patients with MPP in the First Hospital of Jilin University medical college pediatrics department from November 2009 to December 2010. We selected the patients during the same period of bronchial foreign body, airway malformations, chronic cough in the hospital as the control group. BALF and serum IL-5, VEGF are measured with wheezing and not wheezing of MPP children in acute and convalescent by doubleantibody sandwich enzymelinked immune-osorbent assay (ELISA) respectively. All data is statistically analyzed by the application SPSS 17.0.Results:1.The level of BALF and serum IL-5,VEGF in patients with MPP of the acute phase were higher than those in the recovery phase of MPP, there was statistically significant difference of them. (P<0.01).2.There was no statistically significant difference between the convalescence phase of MPP and the control group (P>0.05).3.The level of BALF and serum IL-5,VEGF in patients with MPP of the wheezing group were higher than those not wheezing group of MPP, there was statistically significant difference of them. (P<0.01). Conclusion:1.The level of BALF and serum IL-5,VEGF in patients were high, which suggests that IL-5 and VEGF are involved in the pathogenesis of MPP.2.The level of BALF and serum IL-5 and VEGF in patients with MPP of the wheezing group was high too, It suggests that IL-5 and VEGF are closely related with the occurrence of wheezing.3. The level of BALF and serum IL-5 and VEGF is positive related.
