Glycyrrhetinic acid and Oleanolic acid are pentacyclic triterpenoid compounds. They are the main functional compositions of a variety of natural products. They are widely distributed in many natural activity compounds, that show a variety of biological activities such as anti-cancer , anti-inflammatory and so on. Glycyrrhetinic acid and oleanolic acid in anti-tumor activity has been widely recognized by many scholars and scientists, It is expected to be a series of effective new anti-cancer drugs. Therefore, glycyrrhetinic acid and oleanolic acid are expected to be potential chemical preventive cancer drugs. Because of its wide range of pharmacological activity, low toxicity, in recent years, scientists do many researches on glycyrrhetinic acid and oleanolic acid about their pharmacological activity. But the study on the relationship between the anti-bacterial, anti-tumor activity and their structure of glycyrrhetinic acid and the oleanolic acid derivatives are rare.In order to study the anti-bacterial and anti-cancer activity of pentacyclic triterpenoid compounds oleanolic acid and glycyrrhetinic acid and their derivatives in more detail. We use natural products glycyrrhetinic acid and oleanolic acid, which have anti-tumor activity as lead compounds, we modified its structure, and tested their biological activity to find some safe, effective, and stable innovative target molecules drugs or new lead compounds.In this paper, the research work can be divided into three parts:The first part mainly described the pharmacological effects of Oleanolic acid and Glycyrrhetinic acid, and introduced the clinical application and development of Oleanolic acid and Glycyrrhetinic acid.The second part we designed a series of derivatives of Oleanolic acid and Glycyrrhetinic acid. we obtained a total of 33 pentacyclic triterpenoids derivatives through the modified and transformed of Oleanolic acid and Glycyrrhetinic acid, in which 13 compounds has never been reported in the literature. The third part is the study on the anti-bacterial, anti-cancer activity of the pentacyclic triterpenoid compounds we have obtained.
