Objective To investigate the effect of different levels of serum FT3 concentration on the turnover rate of radioiodine in the Graves Disease. So that we can do much better in the individual therapy of the Graves Disease ,we can also make more precise and effective of therapy dose of radioiodine. As a result we can reduce the patients′medical expenses ,and in the mean time we can achieve much satisfied curative effect. Methods We chosed 438 patients which had been maken a definite diagnosis of Graves Disease in our department as our research object. All the patients should make some routine examinations before the therapy of radioiodine had been administrated, such as the serum concentration of thyroid hormone, the serum concentration of thyroid stimulating hormone, the inspection of thyroid by ECT,the uptake of radioiodine at different times, the time of effective half life, the turnover rate of the radioiodine, and so on. All the patients were divided into three groups by different FT3 levels:Group A The serum concentration of FT3 is less than two times of the normal high level(Normal reference value of FT3 is 3.606.00pmol/L),on the other hand the serum concentration of FT3 is less than 12.00pmol/L; Group B The serum concentration of FT3 is less than four times of the normal high level but as much as or higher than two times of the normal high level, on the other hand the serum concentration of FT3 is less than 24.00pmol/L, but as much as or higher than 12.00pmol/L;Group C The serum concentration of FT3 is as much as or higher than four times of the normal high level, on the other hand the serum concentration of FT3 is as much as or higher than 24.00pmol/L. Then we classified into four diferrent degrees by different levels of the turnover rate of radioiodine (the uptake of radioiodine at 3h/the uptake of radioiodine at 24h): DegreeⅠThe turnover rate of radioiodine is less than 0.6;DegreeⅡThe turnover rate of radioiodine is as much as or higher than 0.6,but less than 0.8;DegreeⅢThe turnover rate of radioiodine is as much as or higher than 0.8,but less than 1.0;DegreeⅣThe turnover rate of radioiodine is as much as or higher than 1.0.We used the SPSSS 13.0 statistical software to analyse our data. The quantitative data is presented by mean±standard(x±s),the analysis of the quantitative data between the three different groups is used the method of ANOVA, pairwise comparisons between the three groups is analysed by the method of LSD(least significance difference test),the size of a test isα=0.05;The qualitative data is analysed by Chi-square test, the size of a test isα= 0.05,pairwise comparisons between the three groups is analysed by the R×C table's segmentation method of the Chi-square test, the size of a test isα′=0.0167.Result All the patients in the three different groups showed no statistically significant in the aspects of gender, age and course of the disease(P>0.05).The levels of serum FT3 concentration showed statistically significant between the tree different groups with Graves Disease, the group which had a higher levels of serum FT3 concentration, its thyroid turnover rate of radioiodine was higher than that had a less levels of serum FT3 concentration. The distribution of patients in different degrees of the turnover rate of radioiodine showed statistically significant between the tree different groups(P<0.05); Pairwise comparisons between the three groups:Group A compaired with Group B , the analysis result is P=0.002; Group A compaired with Group C , the analysis result is P=0.000; Group B compaired with Group C, the analysis result is P=0.000,all showed statistically significant(P′<0.0167). With the rising of the serum FT3 concentration level, the thyroid turnover rate of radioiodine of these Graves'Disease patients also had the rising trend. Conclusion For the patients with Graves Disease ,differrent levels of serum FT3 concentration have different effect on the turnover rate of radioiodine. The groups with different levels of serum FT3 concentration had different mean levels of thyroid turnover rate of radioiodine, the group which had a higher levels of serum FT3 concentration, its thyroid turnover rate of radioiodine was higher than that had a less levels of serum FT3 concentration. In the patients with Graves Disease of the three groups ,with the rising of the serum FT3 concentration level, the distribution of the patients'proportion discreased gradually in the two degrees that the turnover rate of radioiodine is lesser than 0.8;Then, the distribution of the patients'proportion increased gradually in the other two degrees that the turnover rate of radioiodine is as much as or higher than 0.8.In the other words, with the rising of the serum FT3 concentration level, the turnover rate of radioiodine of these Graves'Disease patients also has the rising trend. So in the clinical practicese,we should take the effect which contribute to the turnover rate of radioiodine into considerate, then to guide the determination of the therapy dose of radioiodine,we should decrease the dose of 131I therapy for patients with higher levels of serum FT3 concentration and the turnover rate of radioiodine, and should increase the dose of 131I therapy for patients with less levels of serum FT3 concentration and the turnover rate of radioiodine.
