| Objective With the prospective research, to approach the effect of percutaneous vertebroplasty with postural reduction in treating osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures of the aged. Methods 38 patients who had been diagnosed osteoporotic vertebral compression fracture (OVCF) and corresponded with the inclusion criteria in Foshan TCM Hospital from the year of 2010 to 2011 were selected in this prospective research. To evaluate the effect of percutaneous vertebroplasty (PVP) with postural reduction in treating osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures, we made the comparison of Visual analog scale (VAS) scores before and after operation, and observed the changes of vertebra height and kyphotic angle. Results All the 38 patients'backache relieved immediately after operation and 50 vertebra height and kyphotic angle got recovery. VAS scores were decreased 4.98±1.57 with a significant difference (P< 0.05). The ratio of vertebral height loss restored reached 15.06±8.78%(during operation/before operation),26.57±9.18%(after operation/during operation) and 41.63±17.88%(after operation/during operation) with a significant difference (P<0.05). The ratio of kyphotic angle restored reached 15.27±8.76%(during operation/before operation),21.17±9.31%(after operation/during operation) and 34.08±18.07%(after operation/during operation) with a significant difference (P<0.05).Conelusions Percutaneous vertebroplasty with postural reduction is an efficacious method to relief the backache, restore the vertebral height and correct kyphosis for treatment of osteoporotic vertebral compression fracture (OVCF).Further more, the postoperative complications of this method appear rare. It's one of the ideal methods and worth to spread in treating osteoporotic vertebral compression fracture (OVCF)... |
