ObjectiveBased on acrid and warm sweating method from Treatise on Febrile, we do researches on specialty and academic thoughs of TCM doctors in Southern China by sorting and analyse past literatures. As we combine them together, we are able to demonstrate the possibility of adopting acrid and warm sweating method in Southern China and hence reveal the usefulness and feasibility of such method in Southern China.MethodsBy collecting literature, writing and all kinds of information, we divide them into three categories. The first category specifies the clinical theory, characteristics, commonly used decoction and use of prohibition of acrid and warm sweating method. Second category specifies Southern region's climate and the constitution of residents. Combining with the theory of "treatment chosen according to the variability of climate, locality, and physique of an individual", we then able to analyse the characteristics of medication in Southern China. Third category specifies the academic thoughts of The Four King-Kong in Southern China, including their characteristics of medication and the clinical use of acrid and warm sweating method. To conclude, analyse the feasibility, usefulness, cautioness and the application of acrid and warm method from Treatise on FebrileResultWe then summarize four kinds of syndrome that was said to be totally inappropriate to adopt the acrid and warm sweating method. These four syndromes including Cold gathering due to Yang deficiency, Superficies attacked by dampness, deficiency of yin, and lastly the Heat syndromes. As the syndrome of Cold gathering due to Yang Deficiency, we may do light sweating, in order to melt the cold gathered, and also recuperate the yang that was lost, but must prevent from sweaty. As the syndrome of Deficiency of Yin, we may do light sweating, but the medication must major in sweet, cold and moistened herbs, and assit with acrid and warm herbs. However, sweaty must always be prevented. As the sydrome of Superficies Attacked by Dampness, we may do light sweating prior to the heat produced by the damp, and assist with herbs that do eliminate damp. Sweaty is always prohibited. Heat syndrome including fever. If caught cold due to wind-cold, which causes fever, based on syndrome differentiation method, we can use Cinnamon Twig Decoction, Ephedra decoction or even Minor Decoction of Green Dragon in order to expel the pathogen. However, if the heat syndrome is caused by wind-warm, or epidemic febile disease, sweating strictly prohibited. Sweating may cause epilepsy, convulsion, or even death.GonclusionAccording to Southern China's geography and weather, combining with lifestyle of residents, we then able to establish the application area of acrid and warm sweating method, and to conclude that the residents in Southern China is able to adopt such method to treat colds, malaria, rhumatism and other diseases. In result, we excluded the theory of prohibiting from adopting acrid and warm method in Southern China. However, we must focus on the "concept of whole" in order to establish a proper treatment determination based on syndrome differentiation, and hence understand the pathogenesis, set up a reasonable curing method, decoction and certain herbs. Summed up the academic thoughts of the Four Kingkong, we concluded four syndrome that was said to be strictly prohibited from acrid and warm method, but is able to use such method in order to cure the illness. The four syndrome including Cold gathering due to Yang deficiency, Superficies attacked by dampness, deficiency of yin, and lastly the Heat syndrome.
