| Objective: LRRTM2 localized to excitatory glutamatergic synapses, and trigger the formation of excitatory synapses. Our study investigates the expression of LRRTM2 protein in the brain cortex of SD rats induced by lithium-pilocarpine, and explored the significances related to epilepsy. Methods: Total of 56 Sprague-Dawley rats were induced by lithium-pilocarpine and randomly divided into 6h, 24h, 72h, 7d, 14d, 30d and 60d subgroups. 8 SD rats were treated with normal saline instead of pilocarpine as controls. Expression of LRRTM2 protein was accessed by immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescence and western blot analysis. Results: Our results indicated that LRRTM2 protein was mainly expressed in neurons of cortex, and gradually decreased in acute phase, and then up-regulated from latent and chronic periods. Conclusions: Our data manifested that LRRTM2 protein gradually increased in the neurons of cortex of SD rats treated by lithium-pilocarpine in silence and chronic phases, and we presumed that it may play an important role in animal epileptogenesis. |
