| PURPOSE:To observe the survival and safety profile of postoperative adjuvant chemotherapy in 89 patients diagnosed as advanced gastric cancer.METHODS:Eighty-nine patients with advanced gastric cancer were involved in this study. All patients received 5-FU based chemotherapy after operation. Survival rate were calculated by Kaplan-Meier. Survival in different subgroup patients were compared by Log Rank Test.RESULTS:Disease free survival (DFS) of 6-month,1-year and 2-year were 81.6%,74.7% and 37.3%, respectively. Overall survival (OS) of 6-month,1-year and 2-year were 97.8%, 93.3% and 86.5%, respectively. There were significant differences of survival time in pathological differentiation grade and completion of chemotherapy courses more than 4 cycles. CONCLUSION:5-FU based postoperative chemotherapy will improve the DFS and OS of advanced gastric cancer. Patients with well-differentiated adenocarcinoma and patients who can finish at least 4 cycles of adjuvant chemotherapy would benefit much in OS and DFS. |
