Objective:To investigate the relations between histological prostatitis and benign prostatic hyperplasia among the Hans and the Uyghurs, to approach the effects of histological prostatitis in course of benign prostatic hyperplasia.Methods:We analysised 352 cases of benign prostatic hyperplasia patients who was operated TUVP in the first affiliateted hospital of Xinjiang Medical University from Jan,2009 to Dec,2010 and divided patients into benign prostatic hyperplasia or benign prostatic hyperplasia with histological prostatitis depending on the pathologic results,comparing the differences on the nation, the age, the prostate volum (PV) and the serum prostate special antigen (PSA).Results:264 of the 352 cases of benign prostatic hyperplasia patients were coincident with histological prostatitis (75%).The prostate volme in benign prostatic hyperplasia with histological prostatitis group was much larger than those with simple benign prostatic hyperplasia group, there was a statistically significant difference (P< 0.05) on PV between the two groups.Conclusions:75 pecrent of benign prostatic hyperplasia patients were coincident with histological prostatitis. Histological prostatitis maybe one of the most important factors contributing to the course of benign prostatic hyperplasia.
