Bronchioloalveolar carcinoma(BAC) is a particular subtype of pulmonary adenocarcinoma, which derives from clara and type II pneumocyte. The incidence of BAC appears to be rising recently. To study the clinic characteristics and prognostic factors of BAC. Furthermore, to evaluate the expression and clinical significance of PCNA, P16 and P27 in BAC, and investigate the value of these factors in indentification of the prognosis of BAC in order to provide evidence for clinical therapy.Material and methodsThe expression of PCNA, P16 and P27 was assessed in 68 paraffin-embedded bronchioloalveolar carcinoma specimens by immunohistochemical staining (S-P), the 68 specimens contrast to the 24 normal lung tissues, collecting patients' clinical pathology datas and follow up whether patients died of recurrence or metastasis. The relationship between PCNA, P16 and P27 expression and the clinical pathology factors and prognosis was analyzed.Result1. The overall 1,3 and 5-years survival rates were 97.06%,72.06% and 42.65% respectively. Cox regression analysis suggested that the lymph nodes metastasis and expression rates of PCNA, P16 and P27 are independent factors affecting the prognosis.2. The positive expression rates of PCNA in BAC were significantly higher than those in pulmonary benign lesion tissues (P<0.05). The positive expression rates of P16 and P27 in BAC were significantly lower than those in pulmonary benign lesion tissues (P<0.05).3. The positive rate of PCNA was related to the subtype of BAC (mucinous vs. nomucinous) and lymph nodes metastasia (P<0.05), but not related to age, sex, smoke, the degree of tumor cell differentiation and tumor size(P>0.05); The positive rate of P16 and P27 were related to the lymph nodes metastasia(P<0.05), but not related to age, sex, smoke, the degree of tumor cell differentiation, subtype of BAC(mucinous vs. nomucinous) and tumor size.4. The positive expression rates of PCNA in mucinous BAC were significantly higher than those in nomucinous BAC (P<0.05). The positive expression rates of P16 and P27 were not correlated with subtype of BAC(mucinous vs. nomucinous).5. The expression of P16 and P27 had significantly positive correlated with each other(P<0.05).Conclusion1. The positive expression rates of PCNA in BAC were significantly higher than those in pulmonary benign lesion tissues. The positive expression rates of P16 and P27 in BAC were significantly lower than those in pulmonary benign lesion tissues;2. A highly positive correlation is existed among P16 and P27.3. Combining to examine the expression of PCNA, P16 and P27 is helpful to predict the prognosis of patients with bronchioloalveolar carcinoma. | | Keywords/Search Tags: | Bronchioloalveolar carcinoma, PCNA, P16, P27, Immunohistochemistry, Prognosis | PDF Full Text Request | Related items |
