Objective To investigate the serum total bilirubin (TBIL) and gamma-glutamyl transferase(GGT) levels in patients with obstructive sleep apnea hypopnea syndrome(OSAHS )and in those with obstructive sleep apnea hypopnea syndrome associated coronary heart disease (OSAHS+ CHD), and to study the correlation between the two biomarkers and OSAHS and OSAHS+CHD, in order to explore the change of physiology in patients with OSAHS and the pathogenesis of OSAHS+CHD.Methods Ninety patients confirmed with OSAHS by polysomnography (PSG) were selected. The subjects comprised 45 pure OSAHS patients and 45 patients with OSAHS+ CHD. In addition, 24 contemporary healthy subjects undergoing physical examination were selected to be the normal controls. 3ml fasting venous blood was obtained from all studied subjects the next morning after sleep apnea monitoring. Serum TBIL and GGT concentrations were measured by using automatic biochemical analyzer. The variations of TBIL and GGT among the 3 groups were compared by statistical software. Results The serum TBIL levels of OSAHS patients and OSAHS+CHD were significantly lower than that of control subjects (P
