| Objective:To compare the short and long outcomes between laparoscopic and open radical operation of the gallbladder carcinoma. Methods:Four cases of laparoscopic radical operation of the gallballder carcinoma are in our department from March 2006 to April 2010. The operative time, blood loss, postoperative hospitalizing time, hospitalization expenses, lymph node harvested and survival rate of these four cases are compared with those eight cases of open radical operation of gallbladder carcinoma in our hospital as a retrospectively matching case-control study. Laparoscopic surgery cases are assigned to the experimental group, and open surgery cases are assigned to the control group. Results:No case had operation death in the two groups. Operation time, intraoperative blood loss, postoperative hospitalizing time, hospitalization expenses and lymph node harvested had no significant difference between the two groups (P>0.05). The mean follow up was 37 months (range 6-65 months). Survival rates between the two groups had no significant difference (P>0.05). Conclusion:Laparoscopic radical operation for the gallbladder carcinoma is safe and effective. The rate of survival is similar to open surgery in long time follow-up study. |
