AIM:To investigate the endoclip in the diagnosis and treatment of gastrointestinal diseasesMETHODS:The medical records of 371 patients with gastrointestinal diseases treated with endoclips from January 2004 to January 2010 in the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhejiang University were retrospectively reviewed.RESULTS:â‘ One hundred and thirty-four acute nonvariceal gastrointestinal bleeding were treated with endoclips, the instant hemostasis rate was 94.03%(126/134). Six cases rebleedinged and no serious complications were observed.â‘¡Two hundred and five gastrointestinal polyps were treated with endoclip-assisted polypectomy. Only one occurred delayed perforation and no bleeding was observed during the follow-up.â‘¢Two acute gastroduodenal perforation as the complication of endoscopy were successfully closed by endoclips at once.â‘£Thirty gastrointestinal tumors received endoclips placement by endoscopy before operation. Although an esophageal cancer changed to radiotherapy because of the high risk of operation, the locations of other lesions were defined by endoclips showed no difference with those found in surgery. CONCLUSION:Endoclip is a safe and effective tool in the treatment of gastrointestinal diseases, such as acute nonvariceal gastrointestinal bleeding, polypectomy, perforation and tumor localization. It should be widespread used to clinical application.
