Objective: Using the adult blood mixed dog single lung ischemia-reperfusion model to investigate the protective effects of low potassium dextran (LPD) solution associated with sodium nitrade on pulmonary ischemia-reperfusion injury. Method:12 adult blood mixed dogs, each weighed 18-25 kilograms, were randomly divided into two groups:the LPD solution group (named A) and the LPD associated with sodium nitrade solution group (named B), and 6 dogs in each group. After the left pulmonary artery, the inferior lobe,the middle lobe, the lower lobe and the left main bronchus were all successedfully blocked up, the left lung was reperfused with LPD in the A, and the other group was reperfused with the LPD associated with sodium nitrade in the B. And recorded the pressure datas of the main pulmonary artery and of the left pulmonary artery. After 2 hours and 4 hours left lung reperfusion, we determined the levels of IL-8 in left lung vein. and the MDA levels of the left lung tissue at the same time. To cut down the same part of left inferior pulmonary, weighed 1 gram, we weighed the lung tissue after wiping up the liquids with pledgets on the surface of it.,named wet lung weight (W).and weighed the dry lung tissue, named dry lung weight (D).Calculating the ratio of W/D. Results:1 The ratio of the left inferior lung tissue for lung wet/dry weight(W/D) The comparisons of W/D in A group and B group showed no significance difference(P>0.05).2 The comparisons of main mean artery pressure and the left pulmonary artery all showed no significant difference(P >0.05).3 MDA measurement The comparison of MDA measurement in left lung tissue and in bronchus irrigating solution showed no significance difference (P>0.05)after 2 hours and 4 hours reperfusion in two groups.4 The comparison of IL-8 measurement in left lung tissue had no significance difference after 2 hours and 4 hours reperfusion in two groups(P>0.05).Conclusion: In the models of the adult blood mixed dog's single lung ischemia-reperfusion, the ratio of W/D,the contents of MDA and IL-8,the main pulmonary artery pressure and left pulmonary artery pressure in two groups all had no significance difference(P>0.05). The LPD associated with sodium nitrade have no significant protective effects than the LPD..
