Senecio L. is not only the biggest generic in Compositae plant, but also the kingdom in the entire vegetable. The genus Senecio (Compositae) consists of about 1500 species distributed in world. There are about 160 species grown in China, which distributed mainly in Tibet, Shanxi province, Gansu province and Qinghai province. With functions like setting broken bones, and clearing away heat and toxic materials, inflores cences and whole plant be used, it mainly treats inflammation, swelling, acute conjunctivitis, dermatitis, furuncle, injuries, ect.The thesis deals with the investigation on the chemical constituents of Senecio solidagneus Hand.-Mazz., which was used as Tibetan medicines in China. Start from the air-dried whole plant of S.solidagineus Hand.-Mazz., which was powdered and extracted with 95% EtOH at room temperature, then the extracts divide into several parts. The compounds were isolated by silica gel column chromatography, macroporous resin column chromatography and polyamide column chromatography to obtains the valid target chemical composition. The structures of 16 compounds were elucidated on the basis of spectral evidence, including 1D-and 2D-NMR, EI-MS, HR-ESI-MS, IR, X-Ray and chemical methods. One of them was new compound.Sixteen of compounds were elucidated on the basis of spectral evidence and chemical methods. The structure of new compound was elucidated as 8α-hydroxy-l-oxo-leremophil-7(11)-en-8,12-olide (1), as well as others know compounds were 10β-hydroxyeremophil-7(11)-en-8,12-olide (2),8β,10β-dihydroxyeremophil-7(11)-en-8,12-olide (3),10β-hydroxy-8β-met hoxyeremophil-7(11)-en-8,12-olide (4),6β-hydroxyeremophil-7(11)-en-8,12-olide (5), 10β-hy droxyeremophil-7(11),8(9)-dien-8,12-olide (6),5,7,4'-trihydroxy-flavonone-3-O-β-D-glucosi des(kaempferol-3-O-β-D-glucopyranoside) (7),5,7,3',4'-tetrahydroxy-flavonone-3O-β-D-glu cosides(quercetinl-3-O-β-D-glucopyranoside) (8), rutin (9),5,7,3',4'-tetrahydroxy-flavonone-3-O-α-L-galactosyl-(6→1)-O-rhamnoside(quercetin-3-O-α-L-galactosyl-(6→1)-O-rhamnosid e) (10), syringin (11), docosanol (12), tetracosanol (13),13-Methyltetradecan-2-one (14), taraxasterol (15), pseudootaraxasterol (16). All of the compounds were obtained for the first time from Senecio solidagineus Hand.-Mazz.
