Objective:To identify the sonographic charactoristics of shouldesrs and upper arms in normal adults and abnormal shouldesrs or upper arms. Methods:The sonographic charactoristics of muscles, nerves, vascellums, bones in 60 shouldesrs and upper arms of 30 normal adults were described and recorded; the axillary nerve cross-sectional area, the max blood flow rate of posterior humeral circumflex artery at quadrilateral foramen and the max blood flow rate of circumflex scapular artery at trilateral foramen in normal adults were measured, the sonographic charactoristics of 24 abnormal shouldesrs or upper arms were described and recorded. Results:This investigation observed the imagings of many sectiones of shouldesrs and upper arms in normal adults with the anatomic landmark of bones, muscles, tendons, vascellums and nerves, obtained many fault views of shouldesrs and upper arms in normal adults;illuminatd the sonographic charactoristics of trilateral foramen and quadrilateral foramen and their contents;identified the charactoristics of axillary artery branches and musculocutaneous nerve panoramic ultrasound imaging;36 axillary nerves cross-sectional area in normal adults male (18 branches were at the left,18 branches were at the right in male) was 0.052±0.007cm2,the max blood flow rate of posterior humeral circumflex artery was 26.80±4.20cm/s,the max blood flow rate of circumflex scapular artery was 25.45±4.60cm/s;24 axillary nerves cross-sectional area in normal adult female (12 branches were at the left,12 branches were at the right in female) was 0.050±0.008cm2,the max blood flow rate of posterior humeral circumflex artery was 25.32±3.42cm/s and circumflex scapular artery was 22.61±4.02cm/s.There was not significant different (p>0.05) in the axillary nerve cross-sectional area and the max blood flow rate of posterior humeral circumflex artery between male and female, but there was significan different (p<0.05) in the max blood flow rate of circumflex scapular artery between male and female, the sonographic charactoristics of 24 abnormal shouldesrs or upper arms were described and recorded.Conclusion:High-frequency ultrasound as a preferred noninvasive examination can be uesd for shouldesrs and upper arms in normal adults and shouldesrs or upper arms with disorders and it was worth to spread in cilinic application.
