ObjectiveTo compare the effect of surgical treatment for surgical neek fractures of proximal humerus by splints and LPHP, while analysing their advantages and disadvantages.Patients and MethodsAnalyzed treated 36 cases of surgical neek fractures of proximal humerus that can be followed up during 2008.3 to 2009.3 in Changzhou Chinese medicine hospital.17 cases in which were treated by splints,19 by LPHP, compared the effect of these two methods. According to the effect standard of Constant-Murley shoulder accessment, the scores in 90-100 average is excellent,80-89 good,70-79 moderate,-70 bad.ResultsAll these cases were followed up for 12 to 14 months with an average of 13 months. In splints group, MHT(mean healing time) were 11 weeks, All 17 fractures healed,1 case suffered malunion,2suffered shoulder stiffness, none suffered pressure sores. The rate of complication is 16.65%.The recovery was eventually satisfactory. We found 12 excellent,3 good,2 moderate, no bad with an 88.24% excellent-and-good rate in this group. In LPHP group, MHT: 10.5weeks.All 19 fratures were healed with 2 case suffered ashoulder stiffness. The rate of complication is 10.53%.We found 12excellent,4 good,3 moderate and no bad with an 84.21% excellent-and-good rate in this group. After Chi-Square Test, there was not any significant difference in rate of excellent-and-good between the two groups(P>0.05).No difference was found in MHT or the rate of complication(P>0.05).ConclusionAccording to the results, we concluded that both LPHP and splants played advantages of tough fixation. No difference was found in MHT or the rate of complication or the rate of excellent-and-good.
