| The moral thoughts of Herbert Marcuse are largely scattered in his five classical works, that are"One-Dimensional Man","The Offensive of Modern Industrial Society","On Hedonism","Eros and Civilization"and"The Aesthetic Dimension". On the foundation of deep plowing of these works, we employ some methods such as matrix, textology, generalization, comparison and so on. This thesis has analyzed the redemption moral thoughts of Herbert Marcuse. This thesis along the route: technological alienation– single society–redemption practice, it has expounded the basic categories, propositions and theoretical system of Marcuse's Ethics, with rational personae morales pursuing freedom and happiness as the theory logic starting point. As all known, the science and technology in industrial society has been operated by the ruling class, which has evolved into new forms of control and tools of suppression. It succeeded in stripping the negativeness of people, creating a"one-dimensional society", and, ultimately, leading to all-around"alienation"of the relationship between man and technological man, as well as man and society: Firstly, the relationship between people and technology-against"instrumentality"; Secondly, the relationship between people and society-a new form of control; Thirdly, the relationship between people and their own - the loss of negativity. Consequently, it is an unjust society, as the social system betrayed and distorted the essential features of the comprehensive development of human freedom, inducing the isolated self-personality of people living in. Marcuse presented his unique view of the liberation of happiness, with the human liberty and the pursuit of happiness as the basic dimensions of ethics. He believes that, happiness does not come from the"real"emotional satisfaction and the"order submission"of the standards of truth, but the self-identified reality of freedom from the common struggle between human and nature, and finally, with the achievement of the"overall content"of individual demands as the conversion. He holds that the ideal path to happiness is to liberate aesthetics, foster negative thinking, combine human emancipation and natural liberation, shape the new sensibility as well.In the end, the paper has summarized the three core propositions of Marcuse Ethics. Proposition 1: One-dimensional society is a suppression of human free and comprehensive development society, therefore, is an anti-human injustice society. Proposition 2: The pursuit of ultimate goal of rational personae morales is freedom and happiness, and happiness is to fully meet people's needs, ultimately exist in freedom. Proposition 3: To shape the"new sensibility"by aesthetic, and to activate the negativeness and criticalness of one-dimensional man, is the ultimate way forward to save the current industrial society and human beings. |
