The reform and development of secondary vocational and technical education are on the highway of the promoting new century. In the labor market, the demand of high-quality technical personnel is increasing rapidly.The education of secondary vocational school must conform to the requirements of social production. Compared with the technical training, the whole society and many schools pay more and more attention to the mental health , because it can decide the deeply and consist development of individual . As a core element of mental health, self-esteem not only influence the human cognition, emotion and behavior. But also affect people's mental health. Based on the proposed academic, exam results of students and " self- worth scale of young students sense edited by Professor Huang Xiting ,such as preparation of the vocational students a sense of self-worth theory of related ideas and, " The survey, conducted a survey in four vocational school students of Lianyungang City and got 390 valid questionnaires. The results show that:1. Secondary vocational school students are lack of aspirations, but have a strong sense of self-awareness. They are lack of self-confidence in the sense of the value and contribution to society and other individual , their self-sense of morality is low.2. The girls self-esteem in secondary vocational school is higher than boys. Compared with boys , the girls feel more social value and contribution to the society and family members.3. The self-worth of the students of single enrollment of secondary vocational school is lower than common vocational students Although the scores of common vocational students is lower , the relative worth is subjective feelings, no matter in what kind of environment, if they can feel that they are better than the others around them ,their self-esteems are high.4. Students in secondary vocational schools are mostly academic and self-esteem was a significant positive correlation. The self-esteem of excellent students is higher than the common students, but the self-esteem of common students is higher than excellent students.5. Because of different characteristics of the course, students self-esteem of each factor and the secondary vocational school students in various academic disciplines related to varying degrees.Based on these results, in order to enhance the effectiveness of secondary vocational education and teaching, and to help students develop good self-esteem, this study recommends the following:1. Encourage students to treat themselves objectively. To actively appreciate and control self.2. Guide the students to treat the professional and cultural courses correctly, and to improve their self confidence of the contributing ability to the society.3. Strengthen the academic education and evaluation of students learning and improve confidence.
