Discussion About The Adjective Transformation-reference Of "Lv Shi Chun Qiu"

"Lv Shi Chun Qiu"is an important ancient work in Pre-Qin Period. It is of extreme reseach value for its great possession of language materials. Transformation-reference of adjectives were used frenquentlly in various kinds of works in this period, thus those adjective predicates in"Lv Shi Chun Qiu"were chosen as research objects for this paper. The paper can be devided into six parts including introduction and conclusion:"Introduction" part which is also the main point of this part mainly discussed the meaning of choseing this topic and the present conditions of researches on this subject. The first part mainly introduced the present condition of research on Transformation-reference of adjectives in"Lv Shi Chun Qiu"from five different aspects. They are: the definition of predicate transformation-reference, the classification of predicate transformation-reference, the disciplinarian of predicate transformation-reference, the conditions where predicate transformation-references usually occur and the classification of predicate transformation-reference meanings. Basiced on the vast consultations to different kinds of researches recently and before, It can be generalized that the researches of predicate transformation-references in ancient Chinese literature were not abundant or deep enough. Furthermore, most of these limited ones had never advanced beyond the classificational description of predicate transformation-references which was far not enough for generalization and future researches on the character and disciplinarian of them.Chapter One first gave a boundary of adjectival segments in in ancient Chinese literature, and then gave the statistical numbers of those adjectival segments in"Lv Shi Chun Qiu"basic on the essential definition. Next, the classification of adjectival segments'meanings were discussed. At last, a systemic classification of adjectival segments were made. Those adjectival segments can be refered to human beings, affairs, materials or habitations,ect. Also the transformation-references of adjectival segments can be divided into single ones and double ones or steady ones and temporary ons two different classificational types.The second chapter have discussed the transformation-references of adjectival segments in "Lv Shi Chun Qiu". The statistic showed that those segments appeared on subjective, objective, attributive and estimating predicate positions. They mostly appeared as subjects. Transformation-references of adjectival segments can be juxtaposed with adjectival segments, nominal segments, verbal segments or"zhe"phrases. Adjectival segments arraignments are the most frequently appeared ones.The thrid chapter discussed adjectival transformation-references appeared in paired structures. According to statistics, transformation-references formed by adjectival segments can be dividend into severals types. They are: subject-subject paired structure,subject-object paired structure, object- subject paired structure, subject- Preposition+Object(PO) paired structure, verb+Object- verb+Object(VO) paired structure, PO-VO paired structure, VO-PO paired structure, PO-PO paired structure and paired structures in other positions. PO-VO paired structure and VO-PO paired structure are the most common ones. Similarly, adjectival segments were mostly paired with adjectival segments too.Chapter Four discussed adjectival transformation-references in"Lv Shi Chun Qiu". Statistics showed that adjectival segments act mainly as subjects, Objects of verbs, Object of Prepositions, attributes and predicates. Comparatively, adjectival transformation-references in position of Objects of verbs are the most common ones.Conclusion part contained all the tabulations used in the paper and gave a overall Conclusion to the point supported by treatises writen in the paper. The conclusion was generalized from the numbers and tables listed in the last part.
