Liu Cang is a prominent poet during the end of Tang Dynasty. His poems concerned about scenery, nature and history are highly praised by the poetical commentators. Some people think that his achievement is above Xu Hun. Because of the shortage of literature, Liu Cang has been ignored for a long time. Some existed literature focuses on appreciation, paying little attention to the creation of poem itself. Thus, based on the previous research, this article focuses on his whole life, his works, thoughts and art achievement to know Liu Cang and his poems. The first chapter delves into Liu Cang's resident identity and his work experience. There mentioned three places about Liu's resident identity:Henan. Wenyang, Linqu. In this article, though Liu mentioned Yiluo, Shaoshi many times in his poems, we can't say that he is from Henan. He once worked as office holder of Longmen, and lived in Henan. What's more, Yiluo, Shaoshi is always the place where people pray for God and pursue for quietness, which is in match with his longing for quietness. That's why he mentioned it many times.《The Research of the Biography of Gifted Poets in Tang Dynasty.)) proved that Qingzhou Linqu is reliable, but Linqu belongs to Qi. And《The Biography of Gifted Poets in Tang Dynasty》,《Jun Zhai Du Shu Zhi》mentioned Cang referring to Lu in Liu Cang's biography. So there is a mistake in《The Research of the Biography of Gifted Poets in Tang Dynasty.》.Wenyang should be Liu Cang's real hometown. The second chapter is about Liu Cang's poems and refers to the existed《Liu Cang' Poems》. Except that the number of his poems and some title is a little different, the contents of every book are much more the same. According to Wang Shizhen's《Yi Yuan Zhi Yan》in Ming Dynasty, it says "poem with five characters to a line of Quan Deyu, Wu Yuanheng, Ma Dai,Liu Cang all very hard". We know that the existed poems of Liu are incomplete. Many poems with five characters to a line are lost during hundreds of years. The third chapter is the analysis of Liu Cang's thoughts in light of mind and emotion. It is considered that even though he was born in the chaos of the end of Tang Dynasty, he remained dignity of dying for his own people. Even if the failure in the exams made him tired, and he came up with the ideas of living in a quiet place, his priority choice is still making great contribution to his country. It is because his character and Ru education system. Liu Cang's ideals for the country and deep thinking about the history make up of his unique spirit. The fourth chapter discusses the art achievement in Liu's poems. This article is in the analysis of language, time and space and the whole poems instead of artistic conception and imago. It is believed that Liu's poems are due to the use of color words. His special choice of using time and space reflects his hope for the poor and the sadness for the country. Different ways of description present the variety of art. It contains clearness, loneliness, greatness and pleasure. In the light of aesthetic value and the reflection of the reality of the end of Tang Dynasty, Liu Cang's poems are of great value.
