Title:The analysis and comparison with the garment industry of Shanghai, Nanjing and Wuhan in the Republic of ChinaGraduate student: JianRui Tutor: Zhang Jingqiong Major: Fashion DesignThis paper made a research on Shanghai, Nanjing, Wuhan's fashion industry with their characteristics of the development during Republican China. The study of clothing industry of the three cities uses history and economics theory. The research is made with the apparel industry organization theory and econometric analysis of the regression model. The paper focus on the microscopic aspects price theory of the Garment industry organization theory, with the clothing seller's market concentration of the market structure; garment enterprises, marketing, plant investment of the market behavior .First of all, the background and found of the three cities'apparel industry during the Republic of China were discussed with political, economic, to cultural aspects and the author found that the three cities have their own characteristics. Then, the author analyzed the market structure of the apparel industry in the three cities and found that enterprises owned the majority of the garment organization in the three cities, followed by a partner, the last was corporate; and these companies gathered in a region, resulting in aggregate size effect, so that promote the apparel industry's competition and development, the author calculated the concentration of the three cities garment industry according to Bain's industrial division method and found that the clothing industry in the three cities are competitive industries in this period; Finally, the analysis with the market behavior of Garment Industry in the three cities during the Republic of China, including marketing analysis, and investment analysis. The three cities co-promoted the development of garment industry by changing the way through marketing, investment.The study found that three cities'Garment Industry during the Republic of China as witnessed unprecedented change by the history promotion, positive changing in business model, the using of "company" organization, and mass effect. The reseach which use comparative analysis and cross-disciplinary research approach make up for the History of apparel to some extent, and provide a certain reference value for the development of today's garment industry.
