Her singing which skillfully incorporates folk, bel canto and popular styles appeals to the audience with great intensity by offering them a sense of refreshness, sharpness, simplicity and grandness. Tan suggests a vague division of singing styles. She also suggests that singing styles should serve the songs themselves so that we can return to the very essence of the art of singing. While giving a better interpretation to every piece of work by recreation, her performance gains a lot of recognition from both experts and the wide audience.Based on the study of the background and current situation of cross‐boundary vocal performance, this article tries to analyze the significant role it plays in the development of Chinese vocal art and vocal music teaching through the analysis of artistic features in Tan Jing's performance.
