School belonging emerges from students'school environment, which refers to the identification and the involvement of school in individual emotion and mentality. It consists of not only the feeling of obtaining concern and help from teachers and classmates when studying and living in the school, but also considering themselves as a part of school and the teacher-student community. The research takes higher vocational college students as subjects, and conducts a systematic study on the concept, structure, characteristics and its influencing factors of school belonging. On one hand it can enrich the theories of school belonging, on the other hand it also supplies some use for reference and inspiration for education of mental health of higher vocational college students, and provides suggestions and guidance on how to improve their school belonging.On the basis of former researches, the theoretical hypothesis on school belonging was put forward. A preliminary questionnaire of higher vocational college students'school belonging scale was constructed after the open-ended questionnaire survey, students interview which were formed into formal scale, and the reliability and validity were tested out. 500 higher vocational college students were investigated by using the formal questionnaire, and the effects of gender, grade, major, and etc were analyzed to explore the characteristic of school belonging of higher vocational college students. In addition, the study explored the relationship of the school belonging, social support and subjective well-being.The main results of the study are follows:(1)The higher vocational college students'school belonging has 4 dimensions: the school environment, the teachers'support, the classmates'support and classroom comfort. The higher vocational college students school belonging scale has high reliability and validity, and can be used as a tool for students'school belonging. (2)The higher vocational college students with different grades and majors show distinct significance of their sense of school belonging. For scores on the whole higher vocational college students belonging scale and its dimensions, the significance don't exist on different grades, whether second generation only children, where come from .(3)There exist interrelated relationship between social support and school belonging of higher vocational college students. Different sources of social support on the school belonging to different contribution. Social support is the positive predictor of school belonging.(4)The correlation analysis show there is significant correlation between school belonging and subjective well-being. The school belonging and its dimensions can positive predicted subjective well-being.(5)The mediator effect test show that the school belonging is a mediator between social support and subjective well-being.
