| Rousseau is the great French thinker and philosopher in the 18th century. His social philosophy is based on equality and freedom. He put forward the concept of the general will to fulfill the civilian's freedom by complying with civic responsibility. Rousseau couldn't bring out his general will without his unique personal experience and the prevailing social background, and the other thinkers influences on him, either.Rousseau's advocates of nature and criticism of social civilization are always focusing on whether there is conducive to human freedom and equality. Rousseau praises the state of nature; however, he is not a revivalist. He doesn't believe that human culture can return to barbarism. "Natural state" is only one of his defaults. His purpose is:to make human beings not to lose the scale of self-reflection and self-criticism in the pursuit of progress and development. "Nature" is his reference of criticizing the civil society. The thesis takes Rousseau's "natural state" as a reference point, through a comparison description of both "natural state" and "social state", it is clearly show the public will of Rousseau and the legal system and ethics construction based on the will, which rebuilds another piece of "civilization" and "moral" on the ruins of the old ones. |
