In order to make a research on European and American foreign students'use of "zhe" as the maker of durative aspect, this dissertation makes a study on European and American foreign students' use of both sentence structures of "V zhe" and semantic collocation rules of "V+zhe", using methods of Chinese interlanguage corpus and two questionnaires. In regard to sentence structure, we summarize all the sentence structures containing "zhe" which have been raised by academics or explained in text books, and find seven basic sentence structures. According to these seven sentence structures, we count all the sentences containing the durative aspect marker "zhe" in two set of text books, therefore these seven basic sentence structures have been confirmed. We first make a statistical analysis of the Chinese interlanguage corpus and then we design the questionnaire A to study students' use of the seven basic sentence structures. In order to get a comprehensive understanding, we also do some research on students of beginning level through describing some pictures. In regard to semantic collocation, we employ Yaojing Dai's opinion, which is relatively comprehensive, and summarize 18 specific collocation rules of the durative aspect maker "zhe" according to this. We design the questionnaire B to cover the shortage of interlanguage corpus so as to get a comprehensive understanding of students' use of these 18 rules. We also make an English-Chinese contrastive analysis of the results. We draw some conclusions on basis of the above studies. From the angle of sentence structure, the first three sentence structures that are most frequently used are "S(people/things)+Vzhe+(O)", "S+V1+zhe+(O)+V2" and "Place+Vzzhe+(O)". However, the usage rate of these seven sentences is very low overall. But once they are used, their positive rate is very high. Sentence structures well used are "V1zheV1zhe+V2" and "Place+Vzhe +(O)", not well used are "S+V1+zhe+(O)+V2" and "S(people/things)+Vzhe+(O)". Foreign students also often avoid using "zhe" or use other forms to replace "zhe". "V1zheV1zhe+V2" and "Place+Vzhe+(O)" have the highest avoidance rate while "S+zheng/zai/zhengzai+ Vzhe+(O)+(ne)" and "Vzhe(Vzhe dianr)" are most often be replaced. From the angle of semantic collocation, among the three basic features of durative aspect, the feature used relatively better is "duality feature of static and dynamic". The other two features are used relatively worse. Students'usage of 18 rules is not balanced. The degree of their usage of each rule is quite different from each other. We summarize all the conclusions in the last part of this dissertation and points out some aspect which are not mentioned and some shortcomings of this dissertation.
