Tao'an Dream Recollection written by Zhang Dai at the joint of Ming and Qing Dynasty is an outstanding achievement in prose forum in late Ming Dynasty. Its content is all inclusive, from daily errands to custom scenarios that are all vivid, which is truly a masterpiece reflected the social life at that time. Meanwhile, in comparison to other literary sketches, since most of the content are personal experience of Zhang Dai's, besides all the content in the book that can prove and complement various history books and notes, the life scenarios depicted in the book is not only of great reference value for offspring to research social situations at that time, but also of great help to explore in depth the custom and cultural life in Yangtze River regions in late Ming Dynasty. However, compared to the literature research in the book conducted by academic industry, there's not much discussion in terms of custom. There's no specific book and relevant papers published only focus on certain point of the book, which lacks coordination and consolidation of the overall picture, furthermore, some areas has never been involved. Based on researches done by previous scholars, this paper will do a comprehensive and systematic research in the book, mainly from philology and supplementing analysis from literature, sociology and custom. That is, to consolidate versions and origins of the book, to reclass the overall content in terms of custom studies and to explore its study value in terms of custom and cultural area by focusing on systematic consolidating and summarizing the custom content in the book that has been ignored for a long time. By doing so, we'll reach a new research level and can maximize the custom research purpose of the book.
