With the reform of College English reform, the focus of English teaching is changed from "the teacher-centered" to "the student-centered", and English teachers or researchers have paid more attention to the learners' individual difference, especially the learners'affective factors.Krashen suggests in his Affective Filter Hypotheses that learners are influenced by affective factors such as interest, attitude, anxiety, motivation and self-esteem etc. in the language learning process. Both researches in our country and abroad show that the learners'affective factors have a certain effect on their English learning achievement.Up to now, a lot of researches have been done about the relationship between affective factors and English teaching and learning. But most of researches object are middle school students, senior high school students and college students. The writer of this paper creatively research Hotel Management Majors in vocational and technical college, and study the relationshilp between affective factors and hotel English teaching and learning. The paper has found some useful affective teaching strategies which can solve the students' problems on learning oral English and provides practical implications for hotel English oral teaching and learning.The study object is hotel management majors in Hubei Polytechnic Institute. Altogether there are 99 students(male 15. female 84). aging from 20 to 22. They are sophomores and most of them are from Hubei Province. They took part in the investigation. The questionare includes five parts:interest and motivation, attitude, anxiety, self-esteem and the relationship between teachers and students. After the research, we find that during the learning process, learners' interest, motivation, anxiety, self-esteem and self-image have effects on their oral English performance. What's more, through interviewing hotel English teachers and several students, we can say that affect is quite beneficial to English teaching and learning and the application of affective strategies is very effective in improving learners'oral English ability. The thesis focus on how to arouse learners'interest and motivation, reduce their anxiety, encourage them to be confident and improve the level of their self-esteem and self-image. These methods can be very effective and practical in hotel English teaching and learning process. At last, the author sums up the main finding and significance of the research and study. Also, there are a few limitations in the research. So it can only be reference for further study in the future.
