The traditional writer-works research will turn to writer-works-spreading-accepting mode, this is a major trend of ancient literature future development. The block printing was produced in the Tang Dynasty, developed in the Five Dynasties and flourished in the Song Dynasty. It has made immortal contributions to the dissemination and development of Chinese literature. Song Literature occupies an important position in the entire history of Chinese literature, its works, whether poetry, prose words or former, all emerged with a different aspect, formed its own unique characteristics. It is the another peak in Chinese literature after the Tang Dynasty in the history and had a profound impact on the future development of literature. And all this has closely related to the woodblock printing which flourished in this time. So it is bound to be a meaningful thing that we research the relationship between the woodblock printing and the dissemination of literature. Therefore, this paper devoted to research the relationship between the woodblock printing and the literature communication in Song Dynasty.This article consists of the introduction, body and conclusion. The introduction is mainly constituted by three sections:the researching contents and meaning, the reviewing of researching status and the studying methods. Through the correlative literature retrieval, we found that previous was putting their study vision either on the block printing, or specially on the spread of a work. In other words, there is no special system of paper or books that combine the woodblock printing with the dissemination of literature, which thus leaves a certain space for this article.The first chapter is an overview of woodblock printing and its developing characters in the Song Dynasty. The Section 1 mainly discusses the situation of the block printing in the Tang Dynasty, the Late Tang Dynasty and the Song Dynasty; Section 2 discusses the development and characters of Song Dynasty block printing. On the basis of analysising a large number of historical data, we reached the conclusions that development of woodblock printing in the Song Dynasty presents face of official engraving, private sculpture and the folk carving. Also, the engraving area was wide, a large number and variety of carved books were printed and the content of these books were relatively concentrate.The second chapter is the relation between woodblock printing and song dynasty literary dissemination.we will briefly discuss it from three main aspects.
