| Fan Chengda (1126-1193), also known as Zhineng, was born in Wuxian, Jiangsu province. He ever named himself as CiShanJuShi, later changed as ShiHuJuShi. His literature work, The Complete Work of ShiHu, was lost. Now, only 34 volumes of ShiHu's Poetry, and one volume of ShiHu Ci left. Furthermore, there are notes and local topography exist. Fan is well-known for his poems, which are highly appraised. Nevertheless, his ci and articles were also remarkable. However, till now the study of Fan's ci is far from exhaustive, which requires ongoing analysis and discovery. Based on that, this dissertation mainly includes 4 parts in total.The first part is the emotion study of Fan's ci. As a literatus, Fan was used to place his emotion into articles. Although the emotion contents reflected from his ci, compare with his poetry, are less than specific and sensitive, it largely can be withdraw Fan's emotion characteristic of different life stages by examining his 109 ci works. Fan's emotion types can be concluded as leisure of concinnity and rich, obsession with motherland, melancholy of away from home, yearn of isolation.The second part is the study of Fan's artistic individuality, which includes two aspects, style and artistic techniques. The style of Fan's ci has always been concluded as gentle or soft. In fact, it appears variable styles without limited to some certain patterns. In term of artistic techniques, this paper analyses it from three typical aspects as tune, phraseology, and grammar. Due to skilled with long tune and short tune, Fan's ci tune can perfect match the emotion expressed. Moreover, Fan also could create new ci tunes depending on his know-how knowledge of tunes. There are three main characters of his phraseology. Firstly, Fan preferred to pick up the most suitable words for his literary works, which made it easy-to-understand. Secondly, during the employ of images, not only the XiaoLing and long tune have the different images, but, even the same as XiaoLing,Fan could set up different scenes and ambiance by using different images. Thirdly, his vocabulary source was wide, which covers scriptures, history, Zi, anthology. In terms of skills of writing ci, the analysis focus on two notable features: the combination of false and fact in organization, and the employ of couplet and function words in syntax.The third part is the influence of poetry creation over ci. As a poet, during the creation of ci works, that creations were influenced by the literary factors of poetries, due to there are inner connections among different literary styles. This kind of influence was reflected in two aspects of his gentle concept of creating poems, and the poetry effects upon creation of ci. Besides, in Fan's ci, it also can be discovered the character of Jiangxi school's use of allusions and reference of former poets' work.The fourth part sorts the dissemination and acceptance factors of Fan's ci. The discussion focus on three aspects of the commentaries of ci selections upon Fan's ci, the circulation of editions of ShiHu Ci, the difference and similarity among main editions. Reviewing past ci selections, except the Marvelous Ci Selection after Resurgence written by Huang Sheng could represent variable ci styles of Fan's. After that, later ci selections tended to collect Fan's gentle works after Zhou Mi's Marvelous Ci. Additional, there were few complete commentaries upon Fan's ci. In terms of editions of ShiHu Ci, the current edition is not the complete edition due to original edition had been lost during Ming dynasty. Examine the current editions, it can be discovered that the edition of ZhiBuZuZhai, QiangCun, and Complete Ci of Song Dynasty, have took great influence over the circulation of ShiHu Ci. The dissertation mainly focuses on comparing the differences and similarities of references and original copies.At the very last of the dissertation, appendix lists the synchronism and a brief research upon selected Fan's ci works. |
