The Research Of Pattern And Form In Qing Dynasty Jewelry Design

Jewelry has played an important role in people's life for a long time. From Paleolithic Age, we found the ancients used such as animal's skeleton, shells, fossils and other materials to make necklace. Now we find people using different materials to make jewelry. We can see different period of jewelry design represented the thinking of product, the delivery of cultural and the design of function.The research of this dissertation including five aspects. The first part is discuss the evolution and form of orginal Chinese jewelry patterns, reappears its' important position in history. The second part is explain the development of Qing dynasty jewelry. The third part is analyze the mainly feature of Qing jewelrys' patterns in the Imperial family. The forth part is illustrate Qing jewelry pattern design has influenced to nowadays jewelry design. The last part is on the basis of research and thinking, elaborate Qing jewelry patterns and forms which are affecting to modern jewelry design.This dissertation focuses on the design of jewelry pattern and the development of form in Qing dynasty. Through the research of Qing jewelry design, find out the character of patterns and forms in that period, especially the thinking of jewelry shape, color, materials, technology and other features. So we can put these features of traditional culture into modern jewelry pattern and form design. From this, summary how can the knowledge of technology and materials in traditional design influence nowadays jewelry design. In addition, the target of research is not only focus on the innovation of modern jewelry design, but also analyze and discuss the relationship between form and diversification in ancient jewelry.
