Comment On The Characteristics Of The Islamic Spread In Heilongjiang Province In The Period Of The Qing Dynasty And The Republic Of China

Islam was introduced into China, recognized by comparatively, to say that two years in the Reign of Tang Suzong (757), have elapsed nearly 1,300 years since then; and Islam dates back to pass by Heilongjiang in the fifteenth years of the Reign of Emperor Shunzhi (1658), only 300 years ago. It can be said that Islam is a young religion in Heilongjiang Province, but its development in speed and scale is very fast. The subject of Islam in Heilongjiang Province has long been the concern of academics. This paper discusses the characteristics of the spread of Islam in Heilongjiang region in the Qing and the Republic. Islam with Muslim immigrants to Heilongjiang Province in the Qing Dynasty, the spread of Islam in the Heilongjiang region has four major characteristics: First, in the dissemination of the communities which in largely scattered pattern but concentrated; Second, sectarian Menhuans have been established and played their active role; Third, the ethnicity of the Muslims is very diversity; fourth, the formation of the Madrasah education and the development of the modern Islamic education. The first part of this paper will focus on these four characteristics with the detailed instructions. After the survival and the development in the Qing Dynasty in which, the Heilongjiang Province has a total of more than 20 Muslim communities having establish mosques, the Muslim population has reached to 14,786 people, therefore, to have formulated a remarkable new rank immigrants and religious group in the province. After entering the period of the Republic of China, the spread of Islam in Heilongjiang also has four main features: First, in the dissemination process of forming a town-based communication, the rural communication also has been supplemented; second, the establishment of the Islamic social organizations; third, the formation of the Madrasah education and the rise of the modern Islamic education; fourth, the stylized of the Islamic folk rituals. The second part will focus on these four characteristics with the detailed instructions. After the development of the Republic of China, at the eve of the founding of the New China, Heilongjiang Province had more than 70 Muslim communities with the mosque construction, the Muslim population has reached to 4 millions people, in the social and economical fields Heilongjiang plays an important role in the construction. Finally, the third part will discuss the relationship between Heilongjiang Hui and Islam, the focus is to shift to clarify the Hui as a nation, it has settled in Heilongjiang and spreading in areas, and thereby, Islam plays a decisive role.
