Taoism is a religion created in China, which is based on two thousand years of Chinese cultural history and affects all levels of society; Close to Chinese life and customs, it is an important part of Chinese traditional culture. As a cultural phenomenon, Taoism needs showing his strength by means of a certain art form. So the music became an important means to express their religious beliefs and publicize their doctrine. Taoist music is used in the fasting activities, also known as "ritual music" or "temple music". "Funeral music" refers to the music dedicated to funeral rites. In the perspective of ritual music in traditional Chinese funeral customs, and integrating literatures, national folklore materials as well as field surveys, we study on the music function that the civil priest play in the funeral ceremony in this paper. We also do some research on music ontology and field case studies as well as consequent think in cultural Anthropology. Specific attention is paid to supplying relationship between some customs and its inheritance from the music ontology; From a specific rite body, it is also concerned that how the music promotes social renewal and development, that is, music - particular rites - music. Through such perspective of getting in and out again, we explore channels of the change and heritage of traditional music cultural.In addition to introduction and conclusion, the body of this paper consists of four parts as follows:1 Taoism history in Xinjiang and its evolution of the music. Mainly on the availability of Xinjiang Taoism history and its music; the definition of Changji folk music of Taoism; the Han Nationality funeral customs; the status of Changji folk Taoism.2 Field surveys on Changji folk Taoist Music in the funeral. This chapter is the record of the fieldwork cases carried out by the author, in which music and the program of folk Taoist music class in the funeral are in a detailed description.3 Analysis of music ontology of folk Taoism in funeral ceremony. Mainly from two aspects, musical form and rhythm.4 Evolution and heritage of Folk Taoist Music, which reveals the inheritance and development of Changji Taoist folk music.
