Sweeney Todd, the Demon Barber of Fleet Street is a 1979 musical with music and lyrics by Stephen Joshua Sondheim and libretto by Hugh Wheeler. The musical is based on the 1973 play Sweeney Todd, the Demon Barber of Fleet Street by Christopher Bond.The musical characters the roles carefully along with the theme of music, and through the development of the same music theme, combination of series of music topic to develop the whole story step by step. The thesis aims to approve the Symphonic Character of Sweeney Todd, through the analyze three aspects from it, dramatic roles, music structure, drama action.This thesis is divided into four chapters to be described. The first chapter of the musical Sweeney Todd of the plot and character evolution, as well as the general description of the background; the second chapter of the play the dramatic role in a more complete analysis and set out to try from a single theater peep through the drama on the role of symphonic character; the third chapter as the starting point of the dramatic action of the level observed in the view of symphonic character; the fourth chapter out of the play's musical theme for a separate list and analysis. Finally observation from the macro level, the whole drama in music structural logic and contact each other.This thesis writing taken from micro environment to macro, and micro to details to local to the way the whole of the drama, to analyze the music structure.Finally combined music and drama together, to clarify the Symphonic Character of music drama.
