A Contrastive Analysis Of Chinese 'Bi' And Indonesian 'Lebih... Dari(Pada)' Constructions

Since 1990s, the repressive policy for Chinese language and Chinese language education had been relaxed gradually and canceled in the end, from then on, Indonesian Chinese's studying enthusiasm for chinese language was highly stirred up. Besides, China and Indonesia are both leading powers in economic and population. The sustainable growth between these two countries in the trade and cultural exchange urged the requirement of studying chinese in Indonesian society on the increase. This thesis tries to make a contrastive analysis for chinese'bi"(比) and Indonesian'lebih…dari(pada)'constructions, and expects to improve the education quality for the chinese learner whose mother language is Indonesian.Chapter one in this thesis explains the significance of this subject, the correlative study status, studying content, theory and methodology, and the source of corpus and so on.Chapter two makes a simple comparison analysis between the comparative sentence of chinese and Indonesian. Before understanding chinese'bi'(比) and Indonesian'lebih…dari(pada)'constructions, we should study the comparative sentences in each language, for comparative sentence consists of them. And we should study the status of the usage in comparative sentence in each language. After a simple contrastive analysis, we find that two kinds of sentences are very important in each language, the contrastive analysis's got a significant meaning.Chapter three makes a comparison analysis between chinese'bi'(比) and Indonesian'lebih…dari(pada)'constructions in detail. The main grammar points we compared include: sentential form, contrastive item, ellipsis, contrastive result item, contrastive point, and negative form. After the contrastive analysis in detail, we find the similarities and differences between them, and propose some necessary suggestion for the chinese education for foreigners (Indonesian).
