Primary Study On The Artistic Features Of Yanzi Chunqiu

This thesis is made of four parts.Part one is the introduction. In this part ,the research of Yanzi Chunqiu from past to present is reviewed briefly, then the compiling course and its circulation are introduce, and finally two disputed chapters are identified and corrected according to excavated fragments of bamboo slips.Part two connects Yanzi Chunqiu to folk literature . The paper holds that some contents of Yanzi Chunqiu are from folk legends and pare chapters still keep more traces of folklore, and it could be discerned from three aspects:character speaking, some thoughts of Yanzi are reflection of wish of common people and Yanzi himself has been regarded as the incarnation of wisdom from generation to generation, while Qijinggong is such a figure who has already been overstated, deformed, and even defamed. As far as the plot construction is concerned, the plots of Yanzi Chunqiu , compared with those of Zuozhuan , are comparatively fantastic . They embody the unity of historic and romantic of popular legends, and some chapters , which demonstrate the same plots, are reflection of the variability of folklore .At last from language features, humorous, jocular and witty are main characteristics of Yanzi Chunqiu,the humor of Yanzi is the eulogy of beauty, but the comic of Qijinggong is the mock of ugliness.Part three is unfolded from the novel elements. The paper holds that Yanzi Chunqiu is based on facts, and it gives expression to the drawing lessons from historical records, from the use of language, the depiction of acts and the directcomments on characters and events of the book. At the same time the plot,iiLfpopular, and entertaining of selected contents are the development of historical records. The novel elements of the book are as follows: complete stories and complicated plots, lifelike manners of characters, the inter-action of character languages and character dispositions, and a character system of the book.Part four is focused on the status and influence of Yanzi Chunqiu in the literary history. The paper holds that it has enjoyed an important position both in the histories of folk legends and novels and in the stylistic and thematic aspects, and it has also influenced later generations greatly.
