SynopsisThe thesis is based on a survey of "city film" in 20th century, especially "New city film" since the end of 80 age. By comparative analysis,I try to find the implied "City imagination" in different patterns in "city film" composing. In my opinion, any "city imagination" behind "city film" in 20th century is the product of modernity. Revolution and socialism modernity dominate 20th China, there by dominate 20th Chinese "city film".
