Consciousness Of Sufferings: Distinctive Qualities Of Spirit In Yuqiu Yu's Essays

Through studying the creation of YuQiu-yu's essays,this thesis analyzes the consciousness of sufferings in his works:(1)sufferings of Chinese traditional culture;(2)thoughts of the humanistic spirits of the Chinese nation.YuQiu-yu's strong sufferings of the Chinese traditional culture and the humanistic spirits of the Chinese nation originate from his infatuations and intoxications with the Chinese traditional culture. YuQiu-yu submits to the numerous magic power of the Chinese traditional culture. He takes great pride in the long-standing and well-established cultural history of the Chinese nation. The cultural elite are the embodiments of such cultural and national spirits. They take on historical responsibilities of passing on the cultures. However,YuQiu-yu finds out that under the collision of modern civilization of material incentive,the" historical will" and " culture ethics" collide with each other. The collision exposes the inferiority and melancholy of the traditional culture facing the modern civilizations,which express the defects of culture personality of cultural elite during the past ages. The combination of such a defective culture personality is the loss of a nation's humanistic spirits.
