The ways of expressing time mentioned in this thesis are defined as how to express time in various conditions. In Chinese this is usually done with the help of Nouns, Conjunctions, certain Adverbs, Adjectives and some Phrases. Foreign students' Errors referred to here are divided into two kinds, which are overt errors and covert errors. The overt ones can be distinguished in the phrases, sentences and context. Of these errors, some are about lexis, some are about grammar, and some are about pragmatics or culture. We can tell covert errors only with the contrastive analysis of speeches of foreign learners and Native Speakers. The one-meaning-preferred using of polysemious words, one expression for all kinds of expressions, are reflections of this kind of error. Based on analyzing of learners' speeches, we present some advice on TCSOL.
