Vygotsky is the founder of society historical school, whose psychology theory impels the progress of developmental psychology; makes the theoretical foundation for the contemporary social constructism; influenced the reform in education hugely as well. Kelly's personality constructs theory also has the unique influence to the cognition factor research in the personality development. The both theories are outstanding parts in the psychology treasure house. Their theories lead the tendency hi the field of recent psychology research.Surveying the exist documents of fundamental research of Vygotsky's and Kelly's, Vygotsky's thought of personality constructs theory has not been studied up till now and most of the study is just the introduction to the theory. Therefore, the author has chosen the research topic of comparison to the personality constructs thought on Vygotsky and Kelly's theory in order to make a slight contribution to the personality theory psychology research and enlighten some other studies on this topic.This paper has five parts as follows:The first part is the summary of personality research. It mainly introduces the psychoanalysis, the behaviorism, the humanism, the special characteristic and the factor analysis, which are the influential schools and theories for Chinese scholars on the study of personality.The second part mainly introduces the Vygotsky's biography and his personality construct thought. The Vygotsky's personality constructs theory mainly manifests in his high-level psychological function development (HPF) theory and in social history culture view. He believes that, human's HPF is produced and developed from the preliminary psychological function foundation TPPF): the personality is the formation of human history. The personality construct is result of interaction on the biotic factor and the social factor. He emphasized the importance of social activity on the personality formation and development. The theory of HHPF mainly manifests in following aspects: The Theory of Active Production; The Theory of Tool Function; The Theory of Internalization. The personality development displays in two aspects: one is social development, the other is psychological development; firstly, it is theindevelopment of interpersonal psychological function, secondly, it is the internal development of the individual psychological function.The third part introduced Kelly's biography and his construct personality theory. Kelly's personality construction theory mainly manifests in his hypothesis and eleven deductions, Summing up the hypothesis and the eleven deductions, we can draw a conclusion that the theory has the following aspects: 1) the structure of personality construct; 2) the process and drive development of personality construct; 3) the function of personality construct; 4) the growth and the development of personality construct.The fourth part compares the personality construct thought of Vygotsky and Kelly's theory on the foundations of the preceding two parts from following several aspects: 1) the difference of the core constructs thought (Social Historical Culturalview ←→ Individual Cognitive Construct view); 2) the difference of the process ofpersonality construct (Active view ←→Anticipate view, Internalization view ←→Confirmation view); 3) the different factor? which influencing personality development, displaying on the different personality development fountainhead andthe determining factor (Environmental Determination view ←→ Individual OwnFactor and Historical accidence view) and on the different application of personalitydevelopment (Compensates view ←→ Fixed Role view); 4) the different personalityresearch methodology, manifesting in the philosophy methodology (DialecticalMaterialism ←→Construct Choose Principle), the general methodology (HistoricalLogic Unification Method ←→ Mathematics Analytic Method) and the concreteresearch method and the technology (the Unit Analytic Method ←→the RoleConstruct Repertory Test T...
