| Being used in a wide range, body language is a keynote of non-verbal communications and shaped by culture. This thesis begins with the importance of the body language in intercultural communication, then through the way of classifying them, analyzes the features, functions and the cultivation of the non-verbal communication competence to convey that different cultures have different body languages though the gestures of the body language sometimes may be the same.The paper is consisted of eight parts. The first part is an introduction, mainly introduces body language and its functions. The second part analyzes the relationship between body language and communication. The third part is the classification of body languages. The fourth part is a brief analysis of features of body language. The fifth part discuses about the functions of body language and their influences on the emotion of different learners. The sixth part deals with the cultivation of the competence of nonverbal communication. The seventh part is about the study of the competence of nonverbal communication.In conclusion, the author suggests that when communicating in a certain culture, the use of body language is a good way which helps people understand each other in intercultural communication and avoid cross-cultural misunderstanding or the possible offence. |
