1925: Five Key Words About LuXun

This academic thesis elaborates LuXun's everyday life, social relation, personal association and literature works in the particular period of 1925. By carding these exact historical facts in 1925, author try to return to the original face of history and research LuXun's special cultural stand, spiritual state and inner feeling to show his rich but miserable soul.The first part: student strike. After the Movement of May 4th, immediately pioneers on the line of the new cultural movement were dispersed and traditional culture came back again. Once more the rotten atmosphere quickly extended to the whole cultural circle. LuXun showed his strong dissatisfaction to the conservative tendency in the cultural circle. When the student strike broke out in Beijing Female Normal University in 1925, LuXun expressed his suppressed dissatisfaction to the political current situation and society. At that time while the most scholars in the academic circle expressed negative attitude to the event, LuXun firmly supported the students. At last this led to a kind of antagonistic situation between LuXun and cultural circle that supported "sorting out the traditional culture".The second part: a lonely person. LuXun witnessed the division of new cultural line and experienced the failure to keep on good terms with ZhouZuoren in 1925. He felt extremely lonely and helpless. In this period he wrote the most part of " A Lonely Person" and "Weeds" and used a series of essays such as "Canopy" and so on as a tool to fightagainst his lonely feeling. In 1925, the direction of LuXun's essays changed, from criticizing the whole people to criticizing the special intellectual class. This change of LuXun's writing also influenced his latter writing career.The third part: XuGuangping. In 1925, LuXun met XuGuangping. From then on, XuGuangping entered his life. Her appearance changed LuXun's lonely life and comforted his lonely soul. From meeting XuGuangping to falling in love with her, LuXun fully showed his contradictory inner world. In this period though LunXun was still against the society, he was weak and powerless. He was obedient to traditional morality in his subconsciousness. He feared the public opinions and tried to run away from them. He didn't believe the society and human nature. However, LunXun at last broke off relations with traditional morality under XuGuangping's influence.The forth part: literature young people. For LuXun saw the limited power of himself, after 1925 LunXun's enlightening target was no longer limited to the whole people and began to turn to the radical progressive young people. By enlightening them, LuXun wanted to gam the speech right to fight against the traditional force in cultural circle. However, LuXun's sensitivity and pessimism in his character didn't make him become a complete enlightenment person. At the same time, for LuXun paid too much attention to his inner world and had a penetrating understanding to the outside world, he felt he had no alternative when he faced the practices of enlightenment.To LuXun, the year of 1925 was a uncompleted and open time. What happened in this year directly influenced LuXun's inner world and his latter life.
