| Since the Mongolians conquered the dynasties of Jin and Song and set up the unitary empire Yuan, the social economy had been badly damaged. However, the unification of the country played a significant role in speeding the melting of the different nationalities. Under such a background appeared a peculiar phenomenon that a great number of the national minorities poets, who could write in Chinese language began to exert themselves in the literary world. With regard to the perfect command in language and the level of the thought and art reflected in their works, they are no less shining than their Han nationality counterparts of the same time. A couple of Hui nationality poets and writers, with Sardula as their representative, wrote in their natural, clear, fluent and undecorated style. They occupied an important place in the literary field and contributed their own shares to the literature of the Yuan Dynasty. This paper, integrating many other achieved study outcomes , tries to give some experimental comments on the literary creation, artistic achievement, trends of thoughts and the impressions they gave in the literary history of the Yuan, and it also chooses such writers and poets of the Hui nationality as Sardula, M, G, M, and Dinghenian, by studying their lives and works, to survey historically and comprehensively a series of activities in their literary creation, and further to grasp the literary theories, principles and the artistic style of the national minority writers of the Yuan. Here we found the Hui writers had their own peculiar literary styles and aesthetic points of view, which mainly includes the general style of admiring the Tang Dynasty and the ancient, a variety of literary genres, the outstanding achievement in the Frontier poems, the large appearance of poems inscribed on the pictures and natural beauty in the artistic characteristics. |
