| Shao Yong is a renowned Neo-confucianist in the North Song Dynasty,whose position in the history of philosophy is far important than in the history of literature.His philosophical ideas are much discussed,whereas his literary creations more often than not are ignored by the public.Nevertheless,Shao's literary creations merit our research. This paper is a study of the collection of Shao's poems Yi Chuan Ji Rang.His literary works(mostly poems),which bear a close link with his philosophical ideas,are even claimed to have expressed his philosophical ideal better than his poems. Shao Kang Jie Ti, a kind of poetic pattern initiated by Shao breaks new ground in the history of Chinese poetry.This paper attempts to study Shao Yong's poems in 5 aspects.Chapter one deals with the life history and ideas of Shao Yong and Analyzes Shao Yong from the angles of societal,idealogical and family environments.Chapter Two is a typographical classification of the poetic themes of Shao's poems.Special attention is given to the theme of "happiness" in Shao's poems and the conclusion is that this "happiness"is spiritual in nature.Chapter Three probes into Shao Yong's poetic theories.The face that Shao's poems have a close bearing on his philosophical ideas is ,to a great extent ,out of the necessity of preaching his philosophy .Hence,the most important one of Shao's poetic theories is the union of poetry and truth.Chapter four is devoted to the characteristics of Shao's poems.Chapter Five discusses the societal conditions of Shao's poems .The external conditions include the prosperous economy of the North Song Dynasty, hedonism,civil official system. |
