graphic is the obvious representative formality of design works, and is the most sensitive and attentive visual center of the design works, outstanding design works report the design subjects accurately and clearly with their unique graphic culture language, the soul worlds and the full emotions which designer yearning for are also contained in them. The famous German contemporary visual design master Holger Maties said, " a good poster should not annotated by letters, but expressed by graphic language".Art has played the dominant rhythm of auditory and spirit aestheticism. As a leading language art between vision and auditory, literature keep on taking on the heavy responsibilities of playing this kind of "rhythm" and make tremendous efforts to defend its hegemony position. Since the beginning of the 20 century, movie art which has the power of vision, tries to capture the hegemony position by the disputing among "literature character", "dramatic character" and "movie character", but still cannot attain the goal. Up to the present time, with the arising of market economy, consume epoch, mass media transmission society and information technology, people are exposed to a graphic epoch just like after one night, it is an art epoch leading by visual graphics. The ubiquitous magic power of visual graphic language are presented by attractive TV and movie pictures, new merchandises packages, commerce advertisements, culture embedded posters, vivid computer graphics, and the inexhaustible Internet etc.In the face of the "wanton and indiscriminate bombing" of the visual graphic language, as the starter of it, designers and educators should keep calm and consider the culture area which visual graphic language involves in, including material field, spirit field and the relatedaspects, such as nation development, nationality development and culture development. It is an urgent need for us to research the advanced ideology of the world plane design culture and the local design trends, insist the collision, grinding, merging of the eastern and western design culture, look for the interventions of traditional design and other subjects, then we can find our position through the trans-culture comparison and produce the excellent contemporary visual graphic works which belong to culture language environment of ourselves.This paper tries to analyze and compare the important representativeformality of visual communication design--the graphic languagehistory and its current situation, analyze the difference between "culture" and "design and culture", adduce the relationship of graphic art design and national culture in Europe, America and Japan, concludes that every art language must have its unique peculiarity, Chinese visual communication design, especially the development of graphic art language, must make great effort to excavate the marrow of national traditional culture under the backg ound of the globalization, and merge it with the contemporary aesthetic character to establish the graphic language formality and the national design features.
