The Role Of LN And UN In Maintaining The World Security

The development history of human society is a process of being organized. Itinherits the past and directs the future from clan tribes to countries, from countries to international organizations that are at the high level nowadays. The 20th century is called "the international organization century". The League of Nations and the United Nations, these two most important international organizations, played an outstanding role in protecting the international security across the whole 20th century. However, they also had their problems. This thesis takes the beague of Nations and the United Nations as the examples to discuss how the international organizations defend peace and stability of the international society; and from the comparison of the League of Nations with the United Nations this thesis analyses the shortcomings of the United Nations in upholding the international security; and inquires into the issue how to improve the United Nations.This thesis consists of preface, the main body of four parts, the conclusion and the bibliography. In preface, the author introduces the present state for scholars to study the League of Nation and the United Nations, confirms the achievements of the Chinese and foreign scholars, points out weaknesses in their works, and puts forward the author's viewpoints.In first part of the main body the author relates the process of the forming and the development of the international organizations briefly, and defines the "international security"; in second part the author discusses the role of the League of Nations in safeguarding the international security, and analyses the reasons of its failure; in third part you will see how the United Nations took shape and how important it is in defending the international security, then the author gives an assessment to the United Nations ; in the last part the author compares the Covenant with the Charter, and discusses the possible means of improving the United Nations.The conclusion: we must persist in the United Nations Charter; we must think highly of the issue of the economy development.
