The article reviews the form of the Gentry in local society, the relation between its form and the new Patriarchal clan's system and its influence from the angle of the cultural history.The social reform, which had happed during the alternation of Tang Dynasty and Song Dynasty, made feudal classman's moral and morality disorder at the beginning of Song Dynasty. It had also made the Gentry and the plebeian floated frequently. This gave a new challenge to the feudal rule and the Confucian's culture. On this the Confuianists insisted resume the Patriarchal Clan's system in order to rebuild the social order in basic level. With the practical of the Gentleman's building the Patriarchal clan's system. The role, which they had played, changed. They became local Gentry. The Song Dynasty and Yuan Dynasty is a primary developing period of Patriarchal Clan's system. And it's popularized and mature period is the Ming dynasty and Qing dynasty. Corresponding, the Song Dynasty and Yuan Dynasty is a budding phase for the Gentry, and its forming and expanding phase is the Ming Dynasty Qing Dynasty. The Gentleman and Patriarchal Clan had a closed and mutual relation. The Gentleman becomes a class in local society for the Patriarchal Clan at the same time. The right of the emperor related to the local society for the Patriarchal Clan's organization. The Gentry made the will of the emperor's right and the local society for the Patriarchal Clan's organization and became the medium of the official and the folk. They become the really governor of the local society. The Patriarchal clan's organization had a function of connecting the governor with the folk. The fame and gain of test is only a sign of the Gentry's status. The form of the Gentry is more likely lie in its' cultural mission...
