A Study Of Logic In The Meaning Of "Ultimate Concern

For there is not a definite conclusion for the extension and intension of the subject of logic itself in logic circles, each kind of logical theory especially the debate between traditional logic and modern logic has been for a long time. In present, a common sense emphasizes an idea of logic in the meaning of communication and pluralism is set up in logic circles. This ides of logic promotes that it is better to put the problem that which is right or wrong away and advocate a comprehensive idea of logic than to debate insignificantly in defining what is logic. We should not reject the progress of new branches of logic and other kinds of applied branches of logic when we continue the study of logic.This article does not chime this ides simply, but tries to analyze that it is necessary and reasonable to set up a comprehensive idea of logic from the angle of the situation of logic in present. The comprehensive idea of logic means to enlarge the extension and deepen the intension. Deepening the intension makes enlarging the extension possible. So a deeply study of logic is a necessary way for the advocating of the comprehensive idea of logic. This study tries to put up two points: 1. By reflecting the history of logic and philosophy, to deepen the object of study from the inferring form to the thought. 2. To search the resource of meaning and the power of progress for logic in the 20 century's theories of logic and philosophy, and to emphasize the world of logic and experience, the inter-effect between logic and other subjects. At last, this article tries to deepen the comprehension of the tension inside of the history of logic by comparing the methodology of philosophy of religion, and to analyze logic in meaning of ultimate concern.To advocate the comprehensive idea of logic is not to smooth the tension inside of logic but to understand and guide them properly. The deeply study of logic and the realization of the tension inside of the history of logic's progress will make a steady and dependable platform of the communication of all branches of logic, and give a "chime" for reflection of the comprehensive idea of logic.
