Reading teaching plays an important role in language teaching; In fact, the meaning of reading teaching is closely related .to the meaning of thewhole language teaching. Listening , speaking , reading and writing , the four items of basic language skills, can all be obtained by reading teaching and training, which finally form the student's language ability .Traditional view of reading ability only analyses its constitutive elements; It can not solve the problem how the reading ability is formed. This theory comes from former Soviet Union during the period of 1950s and 1960s. It believes that learning is a stimulus-Response Process under certain teaching circumstances, which has come down from behaviorist Psychology. Over a long Period of time, our language teaching has complied with this teaching model, that is, regarding teacher as the center of teaching, depending on teaching material, ignoring students, the main role in language learning, which results in students' low language ability.Cognitive psychology applies knowledge to the explanation for how the ability forms and develops; Reading is considered as an active establishing process of the meaning, which pays much more attention to the main role-the students, and believes that Reading training should be based on knowledge. At the same time, cognitive Psychology also puts emphasis on the cognitive structure possessed by leaner himself, and on the importance of controlling as well as adjusting learner himself by reading cognitive strategy. The author thinks that Reading strategy teaching will become an important direction in which the language reading teaching will develop from now on.
